Swearing-in Ceremony of 5th Executive Council of BTC Held in Kokrajhar Today

Kokrajhar, October 5: The Swearing-in Ceremony of the 5th Executive Council of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) was held today at the BTC Secretariat Field, Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar. Assam Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota administered the oath of office, affirmation, and secrecy in the presence of Governor of Assam, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, and Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
President of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) Hagrama Mohilary took oath as the BTC Chief, while senior BPF leader Rihon Daimary was sworn in as the Deputy Chief. Later in the day, Akash Deep, Principal Secretary of BTC, administered the Oath of Office to Tridip Daimari as the Protem Speaker of the BTC Legislative Assembly.
The day’s proceedings began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Akash Deep, Principal Secretary of BTC, followed by solemn floral tributes at the Tomb of Bodofa U.N. Brahma at Thulungapuri, Dotma, the Bodoland Martyrs’ Cemetery at Debargaon, and the statue of Bodofa U.N. Brahma in front of the BTC Legislative Assembly Building.
Despite inclement weather, thousands of people gathered at the venue to witness the event. Addressing the public after taking oath, Hagrama Mohilary remarked, “The rain that has graced us today is not mere rain, but God’s blessing. This rain has washed away the stagnation that had settled in the Bodoland region for years.”
Continuing his address, he assured the people, “Just as you have supported us, we promise to stand by you and support you in every way possible.” Referring to the importance of cooperation from the Assam Government, he added, “To resolve the various issues of Bodoland, we need the continued support of the Government of Assam under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, and I am hopeful that he will extend his full cooperation.”
In his brief speech, Mohilary also appealed to both ruling and opposition Members of the BTC Legislative Assembly to extend their cooperation in ensuring smooth governance and progress within the Council.
Today’s swearing-in ceremony was attended by several Cabinet Ministers of the Assam Government, senior leaders from Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, and Tripura, as well as Kokrajhar MP and MLAs from BPF, BJP, and UPPL.
